A small pinch of pessimism
They sat facing each other. They had met courtesy of their parents. She sat with her arms in her lap, head down and spoke softly. Sparkling eyes and beaming smiles doused her.She looked up and saw him smile at her. "Lets see how long that lasts". A smile broke across her face.

and then she looks at his mother and smiles ... she returns the smile and thinks the same and a similar evil grin breaks up on her face
...and they start gorging the Samosas in front of them...
"That" referred to the Samosas on the plate...
