Recent studies have suggested that human evolution hasn't stopped after all. In a discussion with a friend of mine, i had surmised that evolution has switched gears and is occurring at a different scale. We always talk about how technology is shaping our lives, i guess we are glimpsing evolution in action. In discussions such as these, it is probably a good idea to talk about key factors such as cultural evolution (race intermixing), new economic forces(india and china), global environment, scientific breakthroughs and emerging political scenarios (Middle east, rise and fall of dictators, nuclear arms). In a medley of all these factors, is the ever increasing presence of the global information net aligning and altering ideologies. Books can and have be written and i haven't read many of them. These are all my perceptions and i would like to match them with books and experiences.

The latest news that triggered me is the highly affordable one lakh people's car. I think that this would have serious implications both on energy consumption of our nation, technological development. I don't think people would get to their destinations any faster. Since, the bottleneck in our country is the road and traffic and not means of communication. And as always, balancing forces might come into picture to save the day. For example, people with cars might realize we need for much better roads and till the perceptions become widely prevalent and affect voter psyche, nothing would be done about it.

These are just knee-jerk observations, anyinputs and thoughts can help clarify things and give something concrete.
