Reservations - a resurgent India or beyond common sense : a take by an elusive critic with a high backlift

I am very tired and people say your mind is the most clear when the body is exhausted. This post, therefore, is a direct contradiction to the same. That reminds me of a theory we (Shiva and I) had come up with. It is universal and contradictory in every bit. See if you disagree.

Every theory has pros and cons.Including this.

Anyway, i was at San Jose on the mem day weekend. Visiting dark lord and co. It was good fun. We got to watch three movies on three days. One Hindi (with sub-titles for shiva), One Gult (again), One Tam. We could only manage the 12'o clock night show reminiscent of IIT days.

Fan-aa. Though, i am a die-hard aamir fan, i left the theatre feeling a little void and desperately trying to find something positive about it. It was difficult but you could find a few elements here and there. Its okie for a one time watch. Kajol looks stunning and flows fluidly through the movie.

Godavari. Another feel good movie. It had made shiva realize the kind of girl he wants to marry.I love kamilinee. She speaks so much with her eyes, a rare quality to be found in the actresses these days. A real treat to watch and i suggest it to all non-gults as well. The film needs a good editing though. Especially, the parts with the hero.

Pudhu-pettai. Nayi Basti for the uninitiated. Making of a don, which reminds you of all the godfathers, velu nayakans. Although, the director has a few scences borrowed from Godfather, it has been rendered very artistically. The bloodshed is la- kill bill. Crimson goes really well with black and white. The ending was a confused mess (for me).

Heri-Pheri-II might be a good comedy. But, i would love to see another aamir-salman comedy. Something on the lines of andaz apna apna. More on this later. Its getting late and tomm is Friday.

So, what was your take on reservations again? And, Casa, AAA is a great movie. Someone just has to make me start mouthing AAA dialogues and I cannot stop. I think its definitely one of the best Hindi comedies, if not the best. Retarded or not, comedies are supposed to make you laugh, and AAA does a great job at that.
