Think and Talk
Talking near elevators or in elevators should be banned :-). The other day, i was standing at the elevator and some lady came with her baby in a crib. I smiled and bent down to look at the baby.
"What's its name?" i felt a small twinge.
"Her name is so-so".
"Oh! I am sorry for referring to her as IT"
"Oh. I did'nt realize that.Its allright"
In a country, where referring to dogs as it is frowned upon, i think it is kind of shady to refer to someone's kid as it. I am glad that i have'nt been sued for breach of conduct in public or mental agony.
Douglas adam had a very funny sequence on how elevators in future were designed to have the ability to look into the future vaguely. This would allow the elevators to look ahead and see which floor would need the elevator. This would get rid of any small talk required at elevators. It is a hilarious scence. I think it is in his "Restaurant at the end of the universe".

Does ante mama = period/fullstop if so did Pointy put it after 3 period's for added effect. Pardon my ignorance of gult as u explain.

'ante mama' means 'that's it' (or atleast that's what I think).....everything in gult means crap, so I never bothered finding out the real meaning :)
You should stick to the incredibly exciting pastime of watching the floor lights change, just like everybody else.
When it becomes a crowd waiting for the lift, it takes special skills for nudging oneself into the lift.
In Hindi/Thamizh it is possible to ask this question without referring to the baby at all, something like "What's the name" only it doesn't sound so odd. :-)
Btw that elavator scene you refer to is really funny. Yeah even I guess it is from Restaurant at the End of the Universe!
